SSC CHSL 2017 Exam- Complete Notification

Staff Selection Commission gives great opportunity to the 12th class passed candidates to apply for a government job.  Staff selection commission (SSC) conducts CHSL exam for the recruitment of the data entry operator(DEO), postal assistant, lower division clerk(LDC) and Court clerk . 

SSC has released notification for the SSC CHSL 2017 exam to fill 5134 posts in various government departments. Here we are providing SSC Combined Higher secondary Level (CHSL) 2017 exam eligibility criteria, pay band, exam pattern and exam date.


SSC CHSL 2017 Exam Eligibility Criteria


SSC issued notification for eligibility criteria regarding nationality, age limit and educational qualification to apperar in SSC CHSL 2017 exam. 
Candidates are advised to check their eligibility before applying for the examination. We will discuss eligibility in detail. You can check your eligibility and then apply for the SSC CHSL exam.


Educational Eligibility for SSC CHSL 2017 Exam


According SSC CHSL exam eligibility, educational qualification is that candidates who have passed 12th class are eligible for SSC CHSL 2017 exam. Other eligibility criteria for SSC CHSL exam for age limit and nationality are mentioned below.


Nationality/Citizenship


For SSC CHSL examination aspirant must be a citizen of India or one of the following:
  • a subject of Nepal, Or
  • a subject of Bhutan, Or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, Or 
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. 

NOTE: Provided that a candidate belonging to categories above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.


Age Limit for SSC CHSL 2017 Exam


Age of the candidates applying for the SSC CHSL exam should be not less than 18 years and not greater than the 27 years as on 1st January 2017.


Age Relaxation as per SSC CHSL 2017 Eligibility Criteria


There is age relaxation in the upper age limit for some categories, are listed below:

SSC CHSL 2017 Exam Pattern


If you are eligible to apply, to start preparation for the SSC CHSL 2017 examination you should be aware of the exam pattern. We will discuss in detail the exam pattern for SSC CHSL 2017 exam. Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam will be held in three parts as follows:


SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for part-1

  • First part OF SSC CHSL will have objective type questions (Multiple choice questions) in online exam.
  • There will be 100 questions to be solved within 75 minutes of 200 marks (each question of 2 marks).
  • There will be negative marking of .50 marks for the wrong answer.
  • All subject question paper will be bilingual i.e. In English and Hindi except English subject.
  • The syllabus for the part-1 will consist of four subjects as follows:

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for  part-2

  • Part-2 of the SSC CHSL exam will be descriptive in the nature to test the writing capabilities of the applicants.
  • This paper will consist of the writing of essay of 200 to 250 word and application or letter writing of 150 to 200 words.
  • The paper of descriptive test will be held in pen-paper mode of 100 marks.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for part-3

  • Candidates who will clear minimum cut off for the part-1 and part-2 exam will be eligible for the part-3 exam of skill test or typing test.
  • This exam checks the typing speed of the candidates. 
  • Candidates who applied for Data entry operator will be eligible for skill test.
  • Typing test is for those candidates who applied for the Lower division clerk to check their typing speed. 
  • Candidates should have speed to type 35 words per minute for English and 30 words per minute for Hindi in 10 minutes.

SSC CHSL 2017 Exam Notification- Post and Pay Scale

According to latest notification released on October 2016, part-1 of SSC CHSL exams was conducted in from 7 Jan 2017 to 8 Feb. and the result for the part-1 has been declared. 

Candidates who has been cleared cut off for first part are selected for second part-2. Final merit list will be made based on the marks of the both Part-1 and part-2. Selected candidates will be called for the skill test or typing test based on their score in written test. To get selected for the exam candidates need to clear all the paper.

The SSC CHSL 2017 Exam is being conducted for 5134 posts for the Postal assistant, DEO, LDC and Court clerk. Complete detail of the posts with pay scale is listed below:
